Stick insect writing

WALT: write an information report about stick insects

WILF:
- a title
- an opening sentence
- different paragraph
- factual information
- specific vocabulary

Are you wondering what a stick with legs is? Well, a stick with legs is actually called a stick insect.

Stick insects come from hot countries where there are plants and trees. You don't often see them in New Zealand, except in bush areas.

Stick insects can camouflage themselves. They camouflage so they can hide from their predators. Their predators are birds, small reptiles and rodents.

Stick insects only eat at night. They eat plants and trees that's why they like to live by plants and trees.

Stick insects only have three body parts, called the head, thorax and abdomen. There's 3 types of stick insect bodies. There's one that is smooth, another that is rough, and also one that is prickly.

So just a reminder, if you see a stick moving in the trees it will probably be a stick insect . Don't get confused between a stick and a stick insect.
